60 shades of apples at the Interpoma
Interpoma – which will be held between November 17th and 19th, 2022 – is the international trade show dedicated to the big world of apples, starting from production up to storage and marketing. The three-day-trade show will take place in Fiera Bolzano and will bring together apple experts from all over the world with their ideas, products, technologies, and innovative projects.
For the first time ever, Interpoma will host the “Variety Garden”, a colourful exhibition that will consist of 60 managed apple varieties coming from all over the world. FieraMesse H1 Eventspace of Fiera Bolzano will offer the perfect setting for the presentation of the managed varieties that will come from leading apple-growing countries across the world, including New Zealand, the United States, France as well as Italy, with South Tyrol and Trentino as the main protagonists. The Interpoma Variety Garden, the latest addition of this year’s trade show’s program, is organised in partnership with the Variety Innovation Consortium South Tyrol (SK) and the Laimburg Research Centre.
The Variety Garden is what shapes and gives colour to Interpoma’s international spirit and innovation. These managed apple varieties tell the story of the system’s history: beginning from the first managed varieties, produced exactly thirty years ago – such as KIKU® and Pink Lady® – right up to new varieties which are just now arriving on the supermarket’ shelves.
Undoubtedly, the star of the Variety Garden will be colour: the fruits will display a wide shade range, starting from the bright yellow of yello® and opal® apples, the brilliant green of GreenStar®, the dark, intense red of Crimson Snow®, up to the new, attractive red pulp varieties Red Moon®, Kissabel® and Lucy™Glo.
Together with the Variety Garden exhibition, the 12th edition of Interpoma will begin on the 16th of November with The Opening Night, on the eve of the fair’s opening. On this occasion, the winners of the Interpoma Award – a contest dedicated to the best innovations in the field of water conservation – will be revealed.
The Interpoma Congress will take place on the first two days of the trade show – November 17th and 18th – and will put its focus respectively on the new developments in USA’s apple industry and on robotic harvesting. Interpoma Business Match, the online matchmaking event dedicated to the apple industry and organized in collaboration with the Bolzano Chamber of Commerce and EEN Enterprise Europe Network, will also be held on November 17th and 18th. Ten guided visits of South Tyrol and Trentino’s most innovative companies within the apple industry - the Interpoma Tours - will take place on all three days of the fair.
Interpoma 2022 will feature events for everyone, offering an all-round exploration of the world of apples.
